The sunrise was so beautiful this morning. The mottled lavender clouds and the sunlight breaking through over the dried fields. This was one if those lucky moments when the paintbrush seems to go on autopilot and paint from the heart. Does not happen often. After painting intensely all day on some difficult subject matter I started to clean up for the day. My son and husband ran out to pick up a movie and carry out. I knew I didn't have much time but I was in the mood to just paint for fun. Glad I did because this one was fun! My husband ended up running into a friend and and chatted so I had a little more time to finish up.

So good to be painting. At night I am even dreaming of mixing paint for new color combinations! The evening sun is highlighting the geraniums reminding me of the importance when painting to not "highlight" every part of the painting, it is not wallpaper I am trying to create hah!

I know I have said this before, but after painting on the little 6 inch squared I can't get over how much bigger these 8 inch squared paintings look in comparison. I guess if you think about it a 6x6 is 36 square inches of surface area while an 8x8 is 64 square inches, so that is a considerable difference. whoa, that is about as far into math I am going to tread, haha.
