Cow Painting Holstein Grazing Rural Landscape

sold
Holstein Grazing
6x6"
Oil

When it comes to painting cows or anything for that matter, you must focus on the shape, not the object.  If you tell yourself you are going to paint or draw a cow you will run the risk of going on auto-pilot and start drawing with images in your mind rather than what is right in front of you.
Really look at the shapes and piece it together one stroke at a time and then if you put down what you actually see then step back a few feet and take a look.   You will see something that "reads" what you are trying to say.  Up close it may look like a blob but step back and it probably makes more sense than you thought it would :D

Sunflower Painting Garden Impressionism

"In the Garden"
oil/gesso panel
6x6"

After working on a very detailed painting I was very tired from hours of concentration and not really that pleased with the painting.  So I was kinda bummed, for my day in the studio seemed fruitless.  My palette was covered in beautiful mixes of color and I had little time.  I didn't want to feel defeated so instead of cleaning up for the day I decided to pick up a small panel and let some paint fly.  I am glad I did because it put me in a better mood and I felt I had something to show for the day's work.  Enjoy your weekend!

Sunflower Painting Contemporary Impressionism original art

sold
"Bold and Beautiful"
oil/gessoboard
6x6"

I can understand why sunflowers are so well liked.  They are an amazing flower.  So beautiful, so large and strong.   No pansies here!  Not to forget the seeds, feeding birds and humans.  Painting them is fun too.

Summer Corn Contemporary Impressionism Fields & Clouds

sold
"Summer Corn"
oil/primed panel
6x6"

Summer days are winding down and there is beauty every where.  The colors are rich and abundant.  Very inspiring for my latest landscapes.  I tried to capture the bright and clear day with bold and numbered strokes.

Big Sky Painting Alla Prima Oil

sold
"Discover"
oil/primed panel
6x6"

This painting comes after a few "losers" that will be scraped and painted over.  I am hopeful that was just a mini artist's block.  Yuck!  Now to keep looking forward.

I like the simplicity of this and the mood it evokes.  Kind of tranquil and soothing.

Autumn Impressionist Landscape Daily Oil Painting

"Change"
oil/primed panel
6x6"

I know it is a bit soon for Fall but some of the trees seem confused.  We have had record amounts of rain then the days got hot  and dry for an extended time.  We even have 1" cracks in the dirt.  My garden did bounce back from all that rain so we are getting green beans and cucumbers but there doesn't seem to be as many tomatoes as there could be but we will take what we get.  Every year is different.  So for today, a glimpse of "Autumn"

Contemporary Impressionism Rural Landscape Daily Painting

no longer available

"Neighbor"
Oil/primed panel
6x6"

I am happy with the simplicity of this painting.  Now if I could only achieve that every time.  Oh well, if I did then painting would get pretty boring right?

Summer Days Oil Sketches Daily Painting

"Rolling"
Oil/primed panel
6x6"

I have been mixing it up literally by using different combinations of color for green.   Sometimes we have to push ourselves out of our comfort zone to grow.  There is not a lot of green going on in this one but I did figure out a couple different combinations for future paintings.  Woot-woot!

Summer Landscape Contemporary Impressionism Daily Art

sold
"Glimpse"
oil on primed panel
6x6"

Where did summer go?  I know we say this every year don't we?  Here in Indiana summer disappeared for about a month with record rainfall and fears of losing crops.  What did survive went in to hyper-drive when the sun and humid heat showed up.  My puny tomatoes just might make it after all.
I couldn't resist the lush greens especially in the late afternoon sun.
