This sweet little fella looks dapper doesn't he?  I had so much fun incorporating birds into a large painting i did yesterday that I decided to paint some more. 

If you follow me on instagram (@HeidiMalottart) you may have already seen "Art in the Garden".   I have not painted in this large of a scale in years.  We are talking huge people.   36"x36" oil on canvas.  Well, I have to say, I think the bug has bit me because I had a blast and now I want to do more big paintings! 

"Art in the Garden" will be hanging in my family room, unless someone makes me an offer I can't refuse ;)

Yes, I really do mean February.   Somehow I never posted this painting.   I am in my studio this already hot and humid August Monday putting some dry painting into storage.  I was surprised to come across a couple paintings that I never posted.  The painting was not from so long ago, just the first week of August!   I hope you have a good week as we welcome September.   Where did summer go?

Living in the woods we usually miss most of the sunset except for patches here and there and it's lovely affects filtering through the trees.

I was especially enamored with the tones that had an Autumn feel.  I also like how the tin roofs look in this lighting.

The corn is still green here but harvest time will be here before we know it.  I hoped to be back in the studio last week but I found myself wading through too many ripe tomatoes fresh from the garden.  So I decided I better can what we couldn't eat or give away.  So here's to a new week and some studio time.
