When the skies look like this it's most likely going to be a good day.
I like the challenge of fitting a vast scene on a small square surface. However, I am going to start painting larger again this year!

Almost a full week of painting after the Holidays. Occasionally I get the request to paint another version of a painting that has already sold. So unfortunately I won't have much to show from the busy week. However I did squeeze in another original today. Ready for the weekend. We are supposed to get more snow! My youngest is hoping it will be enough for sledding. Have a great weekend friends ♡

Things are Changing
oil on panel 2018
6x6 inch
Things are Changing. September. You can hear the leaves rustling now. I feel so fortunate to have a great horned owl living outside our bedroom window. There is something about that low pitch "whooo" that penetrates the woods. Looking forward to a calmer week.
On a personal note: My husband had back surgery last Friday and is doing well. Some of you may remember, about a year ago he was about to have surgery but started healing after physical therapy and nerve blocks. This is another area of his back. About 2 weeks ago he was rear ended by a hit and run driver. Not sure if it made it worse but it didn't help. Grateful for modern medicine and that he is able to take the time off he needs to heal. He is a workaholic so wish me luck :D. He doesn't sit still well.

A picturesque farm in Indiana at the end of summer. I have painted many fields and that much real estate on a canvas or panel can be tricky. You don't want to bore the viewer with such a large mass. Lots of squinting to simplify but still have enough detail to keep it from being boring.
