Plein Air Sunset Woods Daily Painting

"Golden Hour"

6"x6" oil on primed masonite. The setting sun bathes everything in a warm glow. This is one of my favorite times to get out and paint. I have to work quickly, though, to capture the lovely colors. Painting outside is such a good exercise to keep your work fresh and not overworked. Start small though, because it can also be a recipe for frustration the first, oh, 20+ times :)

Daily Painting Country Intersections

sold
"Country Intersections" Early morning sun before the heat of the day takes over. 6"x6" oil on primed masonite. I always loved driving down country roads as a kid. My sisters and I in the back seat, all the windows down with the wind whipping our hair in our faces. We felt like we were flying. Of course we didn't wear seatbelts back then. Depending on the time of year the landscape was ever changing. Summer meant lush fields, red wing black birds calling, hot and humid, bugs whizzing by.

Contemporary Impressionism August Landscape

"August Landscape" 6"x6" oil on primed masonite artboard. We have had one of the hottest, most humid summers in years. I remind myself many times that I love summer and will miss days like these over the long winter.
