Grapes Still Life Contemporary Impressionism Original Art

A Bit of Fruit

An early morning painting.   After a cup or two of coffee I decided to sneak in a painting session before the kids awoke and of course ate these grapes.

My goal is to offer just enough information to engage one in an enjoyable moment.

Saturday Evening Sunset Driving Landscape Original Art Impressionism

"Saturday Evening"

Cell phones really are a helpful tool.  You never no when inspiration will strike.  My husband and I were at a local home improvement store picking up a new sprinkler for my garden.  When we left for home there was an amazing sunset unfolding.  I was literally taking pictures from the moving  car as we were leaving  the highway from the exit ramp.

I really didn't think I would get any painting done over the weekend but my kids were all off in different directions and my husband put a new mulching blade on the mower and wanted to try it on the front lawn.  So I ran up to my studio, which used to be a spare bedroom, and grabbed some paint brushes.  Knowing I didn't have much time and may not finish but at least I would get one started for the work week.  Well, I could go on and on, but I will speed this up, the kids brought pizza home for dinner, so I cleaned up and decided I would finish this painting Tuesday after the 3 day weekend.  When I got up this morning I decided I liked the painting just how it is and didn't want to risk over working it.  Besides the inspiration was but a fleeting moment and conveying that in the brush strokes is all a part of the process that I wouldn't want to destroy.  Forgive me if you read this far and are bored I normally don't write that much on my posts.

Have a great week!

I brought this painting down to the bare bones.  Simple and fresh.  I wish I could do this every time I paint.  You think keeping it it simple would be easier!

Today we are taking the kids to a small town Memorial Day parade to remember those that gave their lives in service to our country.

Sunrise in the Woods Original Daily Oil Painting

"Morning Walk"
oil on panel

I really focused capturing the cool light of the early morning sun shining through the woods.  The forest floor was still wet with dew making everything sparkle.  I wish the photo did this painting justice, it is much more delightful to look at in person.

Floral Bouquet Original Daily Oil Painting Impressionism

"Charming"

My husband and son stopped at the store for tortillas while I made chicken fajitas.   My son came home with a big smile and handed me this sweet bouquet.   I said, what are these for?  He said because you're awesome!   I am one lucky girl!

I put the flowers in a mason jar on the back porch.  The morning sun was shining through them and I knew I had to paint them.

Spring Chicken Baby Chicks Original Oil Paintings Farm Life

"Spring Chick"
Oil on panel
6x6"

Do you feel like a Spring Chicken?  Most days I don't ;) but watching these youngsters at my feet sure makes me smile.  The dappled sun in the early morning was rejuvenating.

For some reason this scene makes my think of a children's storybook.

Painting cows is never boring.  The best part,  besides their sweet disposition, is how the sun shines on their beautiful hides.

Contemporary Impressionism Spring Storm Clouds Landscape Oil Painting

"Spring Storm Clouds"
oil on panel

No shortage of dramatic skies this spring.  A feast for the eyes for sure.  Here the clouds broke in time for the sunset.  I try to paint these scenes quickly without second guessing and over working the piece in order to keep it fresh and dramatic.

Spring Landscape Original Oil Painting Impressionism

"Rainy Fields"
oil on panel  6x6"

I snapped pictures of this scene out my car window in early April.  Spring came in like a lamb.  So warm and sunny.  I could not wait to paint that sky.  I love how the puddles in the foreground reflectes the setting sun in the dark field.
