Contemporary Impressionism Original Daily Oil Painting November Sky Series

"Grand Exit"
oilon panel
6x6"

The sky was changing within minutes.  One of the best shows I've seen.  Here above the trees the sky was violet and purple and the last warm hues of the sun slipped into darkness.

Contemporary Impressionism November Skies Dramatic Clouds Original Oil Painting

sold
"Strength"
oil on panel
6x6"

Another incredible sunset in November.  I actually took a picture of this sky on my way home.  I had to pull off the road to take a few.  I am glad I did.  If you you didn't see yesterday's post it is from the same evening and yet it was changing so quickly.

Horse First Snow Original Oil Painting

Sold
"Flurry"
oil on panel
6x6"

The weatherman is saying we may see our first snow this weekend.  I was drawn to the complimentary colors of this cold day of blues and violets in the low light of the sun and the warm rusty reds of this sweetheart.

I have been busy with some painting projects that I will post later this week.  In the mean time I wanted to post a couple paintings from previous posts.

Equestrian Painting Horseback Riding Original Oil Impressionism

sold
"Riding"
oil on panel
6x6"

I tried to keep ths scene simplified but when drawing/painting horses there is only so much simplifying you can do.  The subject matter has to be readable.  I went round and round a bit to make this simplified and now I am worn out!  However I am not defeated, I would like to try some more.
Have a Great weekend.

Horse and Buggy Amish Country original oil painting

sold
"A Way of Life"
oil on panel
6x6"

The paint on this is still wet so there may be some shiny areas in this picture.

I grew up near Amish country so it was not  uncommon to see a horse and buggy traveling down the road.  I have many pictures that I have taken but I borrowed this image from morgue.file  free for creative uses.  It caught my eye so I couldn't wait to paint it.  Now I will have to look through my photos for more inspiration.

The Girls Enjoying the Sunshine Chicken Painting

sold
"The Girls"
oil on panel
6x6 "

I never tire of painting chickens.  They are always moving so they are always a study on shapes.  Their color and plumage is beautiful.  Sweet and a little silly!

Colorful Rooster Painting Contemporary Impressionism in Oil

"Mr. G"
oil on panel
2015
6x6"

So back to today's painting,  I had a blast with Mr. G's glorious color.  With much effort, this is the closest I could get to the true color of the painting.  You will have to trust me it is even better in person.  The greens are much richer ugh!

Driving Rain Contemporary Impressionism Original Oil Painting

"Driving Rain"

My goal was to keep the brush moving quickly on this one.  The storm broke and the sun burst through the thick sky.

Beer Garden End of Summer Festival Figures Original

"People Watching"
oil on panel
6x6"

I love the high contrast of the setting sun on the figures.  With the sun crowning the images shapes are simplified and almost abstract in places.  There is more to a painting when it lets the viewer connect the dots and discover what the painting has to say.  Making the experience interactive.

Mallard Ducks Original Daily Oil Painting

In My Wake
Oil on panel
6x6"

I do not remember ever painting ducks.  How did that happen?  I love birds and have painted countless chickens but never ducks.  They were a joy and I will be painting more!

Touring the Countryside Cycling Contemporary Oil Painting

Sold
"Map My Ride"
oil on panel
6x6"

Here we are the first week of November and we are experiencing beautiful warm weather.  This could be the last hurah for our favorite outdoor activities.   I am hoping to make the best of it.  Hiking, biking and painting outside.  I still have to clean up my garden so I am thankful I can do it while I can still feel my fingers while the temps are so high.

This painting is a throwback from a few years ago already.  I was so happy with the chunky, bold, confident brushwork.  Yes I know I feel a little egotistical saying confident but trust me confident, bold brushwork is a constant effort.
