A bit of whimsy today. These little black capped chickadees look like they are up to something. They were the stars of a much larger painting I did a while back and it was inspiration for this small daily painting.
I don't usually paint on the weekends but I had a couple hours to spare. It was either that or laundry. Occasionally I will use reference material from sites such as pixabay where artists post pictures for one to use copyright free. They are a nice break from my surroundings and good exercise for my little daily paintings.
drawing and painting horses is always challenging. I may or may not have worked on this one a bit too long. I am finally comfortable with the results but I would like to paint this one again more loosely.
After a week of Fall like weather we are back into higher temps this weekend. I am not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet.
A girl and her cell phone. Seems we humans have a permanent attachment of a cell phone, at least most of us. Including myself. When smartphones first came out I wasn't interested. My family tried for years to get me to try one out instead of my flip phone. Texting my kids took forever. Then finally one day years ago, I finally broke down and got one. I am hooked, there is no turning back now. They are a blessing and a curse. I love that I keep in touch with my young adult children more often with a quick text here and there. The camera and music apps are always used. Even downloading art for my blog and corresponding with you, all done on my little computer with a phone! #outofthedarkages
Things are Changing. September. You can hear the leaves rustling now. I feel so fortunate to have a great horned owl living outside our bedroom window. There is something about that low pitch "whooo" that penetrates the woods. Looking forward to a calmer week.
On a personal note: My husband had back surgery last Friday and is doing well. Some of you may remember, about a year ago he was about to have surgery but started healing after physical therapy and nerve blocks. This is another area of his back. About 2 weeks ago he was rear ended by a hit and run driver. Not sure if it made it worse but it didn't help. Grateful for modern medicine and that he is able to take the time off he needs to heal. He is a workaholic so wish me luck :D. He doesn't sit still well.
My husband and I try to go for a walk every evening. One night last week the sun was setting after a rain. The sky was so peachy and made everything in the landscape so saturated with color. I had to give it a go with this simplified almost abstract little painting. A fun quirky piece :D
A fresh all prima piece. Every once in a while a painting seems to paint itself. Like musical notes each brushstroke serves a purpose without getting to wordy or overworked. Wish this happened more often. :D
