Winter Moon Rising Impressionism Original Oil Painting Landscape

Painting no longer available

My young son was amazed that we could actually see the moon rising so quickly above the dry winter fields.  I explained to him that it's warm glow was actually that color because of the beautiful setting sun shining on the moon.   He was so enthralled by the experience.   A special moment added to the joy of painting this experience.

Fields in February Contemporary Impressionism Original Daily Oil Paintings

Yes, you may feel like you are seeing double.  I painting this same scene about a week ago.  I loved it so much I painted it again but when the sun rose higher in the sky just minutes later.  This beautiful scene was on my way to church.  The sunrise brought the snow in the fields aglow.  I painted this with one big brush and just a few strokes of a smaller brush for the trees and grasses.

Daily exercise in painting.  The morning was cold and quiet.   The ice fog made the atmosphere "kiss" the horizon.

Feels Like Spring Original Landscape Oil Painting

"Feels Like Spring"

Feels good to be painting again after my sinus surgery.  I am not back 100% but happy to be on the road to recovery.  Sometimes we live with a condition so long we don't realize how crummy of a condition we are in.  I will be happy to be breathing better.  Who knows, I may have a bit more energy too!

Enjoy the Super Bowl this weekend!  This Indiana girl is rooting for Peyton :)

Cow Painting Impressionism Farm Life

"Chatting with the Girls"

These cows looked like they were deep in conversation.   I enjoyed staying loose with this one. Studying the light and shadows on their beautiful hides and the shapes of the cows so close together.

I focused on the light, shapes and the feel of the cold frosty day in the low light.  The fleeting spark of light as the sun slips beyond the horizon gave great contrast to the cool blues and lavenders.

Nice to hear that the groundhog did not see his shadow today and that Spring may be sooner than later.  Have a great night!
