Grapes Still Life Contemporary Impressionism Original Art

A Bit of Fruit
oil on panel
6x6"

An early morning painting.   After a cup or two of coffee I decided to sneak in a painting session before the kids awoke and of course ate these grapes.

My goal is to offer just enough information to engage one in an enjoyable moment.

Wine Bottle Grapes Kitchen Chef Bold Impressionism oil painting

"In My Kitchen" 6x6" oil

This time of year, as the air grows colder and the autumn color is ablaze, I get inspired to paint bold warm color. This little painting would be a great holiday gift for a friend or family who is a wine lover, a chef or just loves entertaining. They look great in the kitchen or dining room. It's yours (if my sister doesn't confiscate it from my studio, :)

Still Life Fruit painting a day

sold
6"x6" oil on primed masonite. Fruit in my house usually doesn't last long, like most houses with children, I am sure. I was compelled to paint this with Cezanne in mind, but as I painted I think I may have gotten away from the angular brushstrokes that I started with. Probably because I didn't start out with that Cezanne inspiration till I was half way through this painting. Sometimes a painting meanders that way, like our minds. I will have to try this again with that in mind from the beginning. But, that is what I love in painting you can totally get lost with yourself in journey. I am really happy with the mood this evokes to me. I guess because I enjoyed the "journey" so much. When I look at it from across the room it has a strong feeling to it, I think it is the interesting color, which is hard to capture in a digital photo.

"Grapevines II" 6x6" oil on masonite

6"x6" oil on masonite.
I am having fun painting this subject. I just let the flow of the vines lead me through the process. The paintings remind me of stained glass with the geometric shapes.
Thanks for looking!

"Grapevines" 6x6" oil on masonite

6"x6" oil on masonite. This the first in a few studies of grapevines. More to follow in my blog. I love how this could be considered abstract. The sun was shining through the leaves and the tangled vines were just beautiful. Vineyards are so timeless.
