"Glacial Ridge Creek"

6x8 inch

oil on hardboard panel

I have been wanting to paint this creek for a while and look forward to doing more this winter.  My kids and their friends spent hours playing along this creek.  I did the same thing as a kid only on a pond, but the joy is the same.  In a world of screens and video games, I love to see them exploring and playing.  Nature is a reset button and it is priceless.   Side note, that is not the official name of the creek.  However our neighborhood is on a glacial ridge with the creek running along behind it.  Our home and yard run downhill to the creek bed.

Having fun with this calliope of color.  I am sitting this on the mantel with my Halloween decorations until it finds a home.

I think this one would also be fun year round, perhaps in a children's room.

Last Saturday was picture perfect.  This Saturday not so much, torrential rain and heavy lightning.  It's so dark we have the lights on.  I am going to have another cup of coffee while my dog is curled up around my feet. Hope your day is relaxing.

Painting over some more ugly paintings.  I like the texture in these.  Also enjoying the gray days and how they change the colors in the landscape.

Hercules the Goldfish Interior Contemporary Impressionism

Hercules the Goldfish

oil on panel

6x6"

Every time I sit on my couch this is my view.  I have wanted to paint it so many times.  Well, I finally have.  This little fella is the friendliest fish we have ever had.  He really has happy a personality.   Whenever you approach he comes to greet you.  He swims round and round, I swear when Sunday football is on tv he seems especially active!  I know this all sounds crazy, but Hercules was a prize at a local street fair and when my daughter brought him home I groaned.  But this little goldfish lived with us for almost 4 years!

My son came home with a new goldfish the very same way.  I was kind of excited...but Nigel is very different.  Very skittish, hides all day and doesn't swim around much...

Time to get back to work.  The kids are in school and it is time to get back to the easel.  My studio always becomes the catch all room so after sorting, filing etc for 2 hours I gave up and picked up a paint brush.  Feels so good to paint again!
