I adore owls.  We are fortunate to live in the woods and hear them often. We are in a busy area so I am grateful they still call this little woods their home.    This seemed fitting with Halloween tomorrow.

What a fun busy weekend.  Yard clean up, Fall Apple festival, movie with friends, church.  Spent time with our older kids too which is so nice since everyone is so busy it is harder to all be together at once.  We wrapped up the weekend with a night swim.  Summer is not over yet!

Rennaisance in Roanoke Fine Art Festival and Plein Air Competition

The fine art festival, Renaissance in Roanoke was amazing yesterday.  We started out with a very chilly morning but thankfully it turned into a warmer sunny day.

My art booth won Best in Show!  I can't thank my husband enough for all the hard work these past couple weeks helping me build all the displays. 

I won Second Place at the Plein Air Event!  What a thrilling day.  I met so many nice people.  Thank you to friends and family that stopped by.   I am exhausted today but so happy for such a lovely, inspiring day.

Tweaking a throwback.  I loved the hot hazy look of this painting but honestly the cows looked like Salvador Dali-esque cow puddles.  After a few brushstrokes to define their lovely hides I am much happier with this little painting.

So my exciting news is that I am trying something new.  This weekend I will have an art booth at a fine art festival this weekend and participating in a plein air event.  I am so excited.  My husband has been amazing helping me design a cool way to display my artwork.  It is going to be a busy week finishing up during an already busy week with many of our usual obligations.  Whew!!

I have not been out painting on location as much as I would like.  I finally made it out a couple times this week.  Plein air keeps my studio work fresh.  Hopefully the bees (yellow jackets) won't be too bad today.

Roanoke is a wonderful community.  A small town feel with a lot going on.  A strong art community, countless festivals, farmer's markets, car shows block partys, unique shops I could go on and on.  Google Joseph Decuis for an amazing look into a farm to fork establishment.
