Well I have been painting every weekday for the last couple weeks and I feel like I might be finding my groove again. I am trying to challenge myself and try new things. I have learned that growth goes up and down it is definitely not a straight line!
I am happy with the texture and the values in this little piece.
A larger painting than my usual littles! This is what happens when I run out of primed panels, which is good because I need to paint larger pieces more often.
Hope your week goes well. We are off to a slow start. Time for another cup of coffee!
Last Saturday was picture perfect. This Saturday not so much, torrential rain and heavy lightning. It's so dark we have the lights on. I am going to have another cup of coffee while my dog is curled up around my feet. Hope your day is relaxing.
So good to be painting. At night I am even dreaming of mixing paint for new color combinations! The evening sun is highlighting the geraniums reminding me of the importance when painting to not "highlight" every part of the painting, it is not wallpaper I am trying to create hah!
The sweet little ballerinas were so adorable sitting and waiting for their moment. I struggled with this one for part of the day. After short lunch break I finally realized that a change in values was needed.
It's that bittersweet time of year here in the Midwest when summer begins to transition into fall. The tree frogs and cicadas are singing and the sun is setting a bit sooner, the annual flowers and the garden seems to be fading. The kids are back in school and I am thrilled to be back at the easel. Although I am feeling a bit rusty I will continue to post my daily painting efforts so please bare with me while I find my way.
I love painting chickens. They are always on the move so remember not to let your brain do the painting from memory, just sketch the shapes you see. It works much better. I think I may re-work the coop in this painting, if so I will repost.
First day of school and I am back in the studio!! Feels so good to be painting. I was in such a rush that I forgot to put my smock/apron on and got french ultramarine all over my shirt and shorts, oops!
