Abstract Watercolor Plein Air

Inspired by the flags in front of the FortWayneMuseumofArt. This is the second painting I did during my volunteer time at @artlinkfw for the Kekionga Plein Air Event.  It was a fun little painting.  It sold at the event on Saturday and the gentleman that bought it said it will be going to his home in Arizona.  Thank You and it was so nice chatting with you.

A few years ago our city had a model boat exhibition during the Three Rivers Festival.   It was held on the beautiful campus of Saint Francis University.

Boats of all kinds from battleships to sail boats.  I finally did a painting of this fun day and would like to do more soon.

Washington Boulevard Downtown Cityscape Oil Painting

Washington Boulevard
oil on panel
6x6 inch

I am guessing most cities have a Washington Boulevard.   This one happens to be in Fort Wayne, Indiana.   A lovely sandstone colored building has been converted into apartments last I have heard.

This is another painting from my stack of misfits that need a little work or painted over.  I am glad to have made this one work out.

This oil painting and prints are available.

Painting:  $110

Night at the Philharmonic 9x12 Painting Orchestra Embassy Theater

"Night at the Phil"
9x12"
oil/primed ready to hang art board
no frame needed

From the same theater I painted a couple days ago.  A lovely evening at the philharmonic.  The dark colors are difficult to capture digitally.  They are much richer and full of warm and cool tones.  They are not flat black.  I don't own a tube of black paint, if you do, throw it away.  You will be much happier with your work if you do, trust me.  Your paintings will be more harmonious and more relate-able to the viewer.  I get my favorite dark tones mixing oranges with blues.  Give it a try.

Philharmonic Embassy Theater 9x12 Interior City Impressionist Painting

Detail-

"Intermission"
9x12"
oil/primed artboard 3/8" thick
ready to hang-no frame needed

My daughter and I enjoyed an enjoyable evening at the philharmonic at Ft. Wayne's Embassy Theatre.  I snapped some shots from the upper level and finally got a chance to work on a painting.  I haven't painted this large in a while and this took me a few days to work out.  I tried to keep it painterly yet readable with all the architectural details.

If you click on the picture you can see the details a bit better.

Kettle Corn Apple Festival Daily Oil Painting Autumn

"Handmade Kettle Corn" (prev. post 2007) 6"x6" oil on primed masonite.

What an amazing process to watch. Huge kettles of popcorn being stirred over an open fire. The men wore cowboy hats, handkerchiefs and overalls. The boy scouts set this up every year at our local Johnny Appleseed Festival

Johnny Appleseed Fall Festival Woods Figures Autumn Landscape daily painting

"One Apple Fritter Please"

The woods was a perfect setting for this fall festival. The sun shining down through the tall trees was inspiration enough for me. 6"X6" oil on primed masonite artboard. Johnny Appleseed Fall Festival
