I have been wanting to paint this creek for a while and look forward to doing more this winter.  My kids and their friends spent hours playing along this creek.  I did the same thing as a kid only on a pond, but the joy is the same.  In a world of screens and video games, I love to see them exploring and playing.  Nature is a reset button and it is priceless.   Side note, that is not the official name of the creek.  However our neighborhood is on a glacial ridge with the creek running along behind it.  Our home and yard run downhill to the creek bed.

Most years by this time we have our Christmas tree up and are in full swing of the season.  For some reason I am having a difficult time getting into the spirit.  Yes, it is only the first week in December, but I see "it" going on around me but I feel like I am on the outside looking in.  I keep waiting for that special feeling to happen.  I started listening to Christmas music while painting this week in hopes to get there.  We are talking all the classics and even my favorite Celtic music.  Hmm...maybe something will trigger "it" this week...for now I will post one of my favorites from last season and continue to be aware of the true reason for the season for that is all that really matters.  Hopefully the good feels will fall into place.

Open fields with a light dusting of snow.  This piece is larger than my usual posts.  I used 2 brushes.  A much larger flat brush and a very small brush for a few linear strokes.

A few years ago our city had a model boat exhibition during the Three Rivers Festival.   It was held on the beautiful campus of Saint Francis University. 

Boats of all kinds from battleships to sail boats.  I finally did a painting of this fun day and would like to do more soon.
