The clouds today gave this painting such a whimsical feel. The utility poles seem to dance and sway. Funny how paintings take on a life of their own.

One of my favorites from 2015. A much more productive year than 2018 artistically that it! Hi friends! For those of you that have been asking, Yes, I am still alive :D

So sorry I have been awol for so long. Thank you so much for asking. I have been so busy with other avenues in my life, all good, just sad that my art seemed to fall to the wayside for a bit. I miss painting and I am sure when my kids are back in school I will be back at it.

Enjoy these summer days, I will try to keep in touch more often

When studying the light coming through the petals I could figure out the values but getting the color correct was a bit more of a challenge. I think I finally got it right.

I divided and attempted to conquer a busy, detailed scene by simplifying and blocking in the bigger shapes. Something about these scenes cut down to the bare bones is very relaxing and harmonious.

I love the month of May. We have 2 Birthdays in the family and it's the last month of school. However it is our busiest month as well. If we can get through this filled calendar we can welcome slower days of Summer. I have set up an easel in the corner of our screened porch and look forward to more painting. So check back throughout this summer to see some new little paintings.

Yes, a new painting fresh off the easel! I know it has been a while.

Does it count to say this is plein air if you paint something outside your studio window? I even went for a brisk walk afterwards and I do mean brisk, brr.

This painting had so much emotion for me. I truly enjoyed the journey from start to finish. An expressive interpretation of a dramatic dance between seasons. I wanted to paint quickly as the wind blowing the clouds, to keep it fresh and brisk.

Now this burst of creativity after such a long spell will be either invigorating or draining for the rest of my time in the studio today :D
