Abstract Contemporary Art Heidi Malott Original Oil Painting

Sold
"Out of the Zone"
oil on panel
6x6"

Trying something new.  I have been wanting to go in this direction for a while.  Someone sent me an email a little while back mentioning the subject of my landscapes leaning to the abstract and I feel terrible for I must have accidentally deleted that email before I could reply.  So if you're out there and read this please know that I really appreciated your kind and thoughtful email and apologize for not responding.  Please feel free to message me.

I plan to continue exploring this avenue more frequently.  Like most art efforts it cannot be forced so you will see them mixed in with my daily paintings.

Feel free to let me know your thoughts on these attempts.
Thank You!

Rural Landscape 9x12 Original Oil Painting Ready to Hang

"Rural Roller Coaster"
9x12"
oil on 3/8" panel
Dovetail slot for easy hanging
no frame needed

This painting might look familiar.  I painted this scene on one of my small daily paintings.  There are a few others I would like to do the same.

"Rural Roller Coaster"  - one of my favorite memories as a kid is riding out to Grandma's farm in a 1970's sedan the size of a boat.  Of course no seat belts, and my sisters and I squealing with delight as the car went up and over the hill while our stomachs did flip flops.

Contemporary Art 9x12 Summer Landscape Original Oil Painting Heidi Malott

"Summer Sway"
9x12"
oil on primed panel
ready to hang
no frame needed
3/8" thick with dovetail slot to hang

detail:

I am not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet.  I was out in the garden harvesting green peppers in November!  We have had snow by this time some years.  So no ccomplaints here.

I am so enjoying painting on a larger scale.  I just have to remember to take my time and be thoughtful of my brushstrokes all of course while staying fresh and not overworking the oil paint.  Deep breath!

Autumn Ridge Landscape Original Oil Painting Impressionism

"Autumn Ridge"
oil on panel
6x6"

Chasing shadows.  That is kind of how it feels with fall being such a short season.  however this year the season has been extended with warmer temperatures.

This scene is outside my studio.  The sun shining through leaves is like stained glass.

Contemporary Abstract Impressionism 9x12" Rural Landscape Painting Heidi Malott

sold
"Autumn Dance"
9x12"
oil on 3/8" thick panel
Dovetail slot for easy hanging
no frame necessary

A contemporary look at the rural landscape around me.  There is still so much color to glean from the fields this late in Autumn.  I really enjoyed simplifying the details and painting the raw colors in the light and shadows.  Focusing on bold thoughtful brushstrokes to represent the field ready for harvest.

Quilt Squares Rural Landscape Original Daily Oil Painting

After harvest time the fields remind me of quilting squares.  I was also pulled to paint this by how the colors play on the white barns.

Crossing the Creek Contemporary Impressionism Original Oil Painting

"Crossing the Creek"
oil on panel
6x6"

Another scene from our recent camping trip.  I loved how the sunlight filtered through the trees on this crisp Autumn day.  I tried to capture the important details without getting to tight with the detail.  Hopefully just enough to capture the feeling of the moment.
