Grapes Still Life Contemporary Impressionism Original Art

A Bit of Fruit
oil on panel
6x6"

An early morning painting.   After a cup or two of coffee I decided to sneak in a painting session before the kids awoke and of course ate these grapes.

My goal is to offer just enough information to engage one in an enjoyable moment.

Farmers Market Fruit Vegetable Stand Figures Original Oil Painting

Morning Market Stop
6x6 inch
oil/primed hardboard

I am happy with the simplified details and strong morning light.  Of course I spent way too much time trying to get an image that best shows this painting, but I think it looks much better in real life.  hmmm...wet paint and dark shadows are difficult to photograph.

Orange Tree Orchard Original Oil Painting

Orange Tree
6x6 inch oil

Once again, I really struggled with getting a decent picture of a painting.  Goodness.  Wet paint, darks, warms and cools, my camera just couldn't do it all.  Of course I am sure there is plenty lacking on the human side of things as well.  Anyway, I am happier with the painting in person than this image.

6x6 Oil on primed masonite

I am occasionally retaking photos of some older artwork that I feel the photos may not represent them well enough.  As you can see this is a highly textured painting.  I love when the brushstrokes seem to have a life of their own.  When you can see that the image was "built" in a series of thick brushstrokes.  Nice and chunky, like pineapple...

Apple Orchard Amish Farm Fall Landscape for the Holidays Oil Painting

sold
There is nothing like standing among the buzzing bees in an apple orchard out in the country. The morning sun warming the cool fall air. It was so peaceful. I hope those same feelings are felt when viewing this little painting. The holiday season is around the corner and what a special gift these small original oil paintings would make...you don't even need to frame it, just pop it into a gift bag with a mini easel(under $5 at Michaels)

Still Life Fruit painting a day

sold
6"x6" oil on primed masonite. Fruit in my house usually doesn't last long, like most houses with children, I am sure. I was compelled to paint this with Cezanne in mind, but as I painted I think I may have gotten away from the angular brushstrokes that I started with. Probably because I didn't start out with that Cezanne inspiration till I was half way through this painting. Sometimes a painting meanders that way, like our minds. I will have to try this again with that in mind from the beginning. But, that is what I love in painting you can totally get lost with yourself in journey. I am really happy with the mood this evokes to me. I guess because I enjoyed the "journey" so much. When I look at it from across the room it has a strong feeling to it, I think it is the interesting color, which is hard to capture in a digital photo.

"Washington Red" apples fruit daily painting

6"x6" oil on masonite. Today was an "exercise paint day" A fresh, loose approach. My goal was to keep the color from becoming muddy.
