Capturing an expressive moment on an early October morning.

Quite wonderful to paint over a real "dud" of a painting with something I am much more excited about.

Kayaking Along the River Original Landscape Artwork

sold

Kayaking

6x6"

oil on panel

Back to nature.  One of our summer camping trips with the kids.  The youngest was able to pilot his own kayak.  Where does the time go?!

I took hundreds of pictures right from our kayaks and tubes on Sugar Creek in Southern Indiana.  Looking forward to using some for references this winter in the studio.

Some days more than others I just have to paint more freely and with much expression.  More of a process and a mood.  All part of my journey I guess.  Also, I have to remind myself it is still good to explore and avoid becoming stagnant.  One of the reasons I love the small daily works.

Golden Autumn Landscape 8x8" Original Oil Painting Heidi Malott

"Golden"

8x8"

oil on stretched canvas

$135

We are having quite the warm and dry Autumn.  This means the colors of the leaves are much less vibrant.  I think the subtle colors are still beautiful but I am glad this only happens occasionally.
