Feels Like Spring Original Landscape Oil Painting

"Feels Like Spring"
oil on panel
6x6"

Feels good to be painting again after my sinus surgery.  I am not back 100% but happy to be on the road to recovery.  Sometimes we live with a condition so long we don't realize how crummy of a condition we are in.  I will be happy to be breathing better.  Who knows, I may have a bit more energy too!

Enjoy the Super Bowl this weekend!  This Indiana girl is rooting for Peyton :)

Cow Painting Impressionism Farm Life

"Chatting with the Girls"

These cows looked like they were deep in conversation.   I enjoyed staying loose with this one. Studying the light and shadows on their beautiful hides and the shapes of the cows so close together.

Impressionism Contemporary Art Original Oil Painting Landscape

sold
"Truth"
Oil on panel

I focused on the light, shapes and the feel of the cold frosty day in the low light.  The fleeting spark of light as the sun slips beyond the horizon gave great contrast to the cool blues and lavenders.

Nice to hear that the groundhog did not see his shadow today and that Spring may be sooner than later.  Have a great night!

Winter Landscape Sunday in January Original Oil Painting

sold
"Sunday in January"
oil on panel
6x6"

Like I have mentioned before, we have not seen much snow yet this winter.  So, when we do I try to take many reference photos.  This painting is inspired by an early drive to church  last Sunday.

I tried to capture the essence of the cold snowy fields as sun started to rise and burn off the ice fog.

After the Rain Original Daily Oil Painting

"After the Rain"
6x6"
oil on panel

We have had a mixed bag for a winter.  Mild for the most part.  A little snow and still quite a few days of bitter cold mixed in.  This ridge was so beautiful when the rain clouds started to break.  The sun started to shine through the cracks.  The land was wet an looked so gem like in the dim light.

My time in the studio has been sporadic in this new year.  I have an upcoming sinus surgery and hope this will help me get back on track.

Winter Landscape Morning Frost Original Daily Oil Painting

"Morning Frost"
oil on panel
6x6"

Have you ever seen ice fog?  It is so cool, especially early in the morning when the sun is just coming up.  The ice crystals in the air shimmer.  Here the ice fog was almost gone, just hovering in the low lying areas in the fields. Once again I had my son take pictures with my phone on our way to his school.  I then went home to paint from them in my warm studio.  Hope you are staying warm out there.

Contemporary Landscape Impressionism Original Daily Oil Painting

"New"

The skies after a storm at sunset never disappoints.  In wanting to keep the freshness of this fleeting moment I simplified the details a bit and moved fast in order to keep the colors clean and not overworked.
