Painting is observing those details that can be missed. I remember long ago as an art student how we were taught to never assume. For example the grass is green the sky is blue the tree trunk is brown etc. You must really look at what you are painting and look often. It can be easy to start painting and never look up from you painting. This will put you in auto-pilot and miss one of the things that inspired you to paint in the first place. Here in the early morning the sun was still low in the sky. The colors were so different at this moment than in 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 1 hour. So much to paint and so little time ;)
