6"x6" oil on masonite.
Our pup is not this little anymore, but she still can't wait for the kids to get home. This is from a late summer afternoon, when the grass was green and lush, there was a hint of fall in the air. The sun dappled the lawn through our crabapple tree. When I looked at the photo that inspired this painting, I thought of one of my favorites, John Singer Sargent and how he would paint figures outside. I would like to try this on a bigger scale sometime.
A fun memory for a wintry day. The positioning is excellent: The puppy will lick the girl any second.
